Revisiting Waterville 4/17/12

by Janet Bonneau in Plein air painting

I don’t always finish a painting on the spot, just not that fast yet! Especially on larger canvas sizes. I recently went back to Waterville to continue working on the painting I started several months ago, probably in the Fall.

This is my 3rd or 4th time back to this same spot, and by now, it’s Spring in Vermont! The colors have changed from faded oranges and russets of late Fall foliage, to brighter spring greens. So I guess this is going to be a spring piece.

I took this photo early in the day and by the time I stopped painting around noon, I’d filled the foreground with more scrub brush, developed more highlights and in general got the painting nearly done. Will post the end result soon. Stay tuned!
